Getting to know what you actually take: how to read the label, which format suits which routine, what to check before combining anything with a prescription — and the practical side of buying from our counter.

Know your label

Reading an AUST L number

An AUST L number means the medicine is included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods and must meet applicable ingredient, manufacturing and quality requirements. The sponsor must hold evidence supporting its listed indications, although the TGA generally does not assess that efficacy evidence before an AUST L medicine is listed. Always check that claims match the current Australian label.

Protein in the morning

A perennial on the manufacturer's blog: spreading protein across the day instead of saving it all for dinner, starting with breakfast. Their piece is linked. The local note is simpler — the protein range on our shelves is Australian stock in Australian serve sizes, so the numbers in the article need no conversion.

What postbiotic skincare actually means

The Postbiotic range is built around fermented ingredients rather than live cultures — the manufacturer's explainer covers why that distinction exists. Our summary deliberately stops at what the range is built around; what any product does for your skin is between the label, a patch test, and you.

Fuelling around activity

Meal replacement and protein powder answer different questions — one substitutes a meal, the other adds to one. USANA's piece walks through which format suits which routine; the serving directions on the pack are the part to actually follow.

Before you combine

Supplements alongside prescription medicines

Some supplement ingredients interact with prescription medicines, and the person best placed to check is a pharmacist who can see your full list. It takes a minute and costs nothing. Take the pack with you, or a photo of it — the ingredient list and AUST L number are exactly what they need to look it up.

How collection works, and why we prefer it

Order online, pay what the catalogue says, and pick up from our Box Hill counter once the confirmation email says it is ready. No courier window, no shipping line on the invoice, and nothing to pay for collection. It is the only way we supply orders, and it is the whole reason this store leads with it.

Why we sell at recommended retail

Every price here is USANA's published recommended retail — the same figure you can check on their own site. We would rather compete on collection, stock on hand and a person you can ask questions of than on a struck-through number that was never the real price. Where something genuinely costs less — the bundles — the saving is shown in dollars, calculated from that same RRP.

Looking after a shaker bottle

Rinse it before the protein dries, wash the lid thread and the mixing ball separately, and leave everything open to dry — a sealed damp shaker is where the smell comes from. Already too late? Bicarb soda and warm water overnight, not more detergent. Unglamorous, but it is the question we get asked most at the counter.
